The Vampire with the Dragon Tattoo by Kerrelyn Sparks

BLURB:

Dougal Kincaid has something to prove. After being injured in a battle with the Malcontents, he's ready for active duty protecting unsuspecting mortals from these villainous vampires who want to rule the world. But first he has to get control of himself . . . because just the sight of a certain lovely doctor has his injured hand doing some peculiar things, not to mention the sizzling sensation that burns along his dragon tattoo.

Vampires? Vampires?! As a scientist, Leah is having trouble believing that these immortal creatures exist. But there they are, standing in front of her, asking for help in solving a genetic puzzle that can save mankind. There's even one in a sexy kilt! Just one look into Dougal's gorgeous green eyes sets her pulse racing. But can she trust him—and the overwhelming desire that refuses to be ignored?

REVIEW:

SPOILERS…

Let me start off saying this is one of my favorite book series. Kerrelyn Sparks weaves a great story with humor unlike anyone else. She can have me crying one minute and laughing out loud the next. I mean, come on half the males in this series wear kilts, how hot is that!?! Not to mention Phineas McKinney one of the funniest characters ever. ANYWAY, this is book #14 in the series, and like many books in a series this long the story line has strayed a bit from the central conflict in recent books. But I feel like she is starting to bring the conflict back to the forefront of the stories. Let’s hope she continues that in future books.

This book is about Dougal Kincaid (YES a Scotsman in a kilt!!!!) who lost his hand in the war against the Malcontents. He is struggling not only to adjust to using his prosthetic hand but fighting the demons of his past. When he meets the new doctor brought in to work at Romatech Industries not only does his past come flooding back but he has to fight his attraction for Dr. Leah Chin. Leah has been invited to help in finding a cure for the new breed of soldiers being created by Master Han for Darafer. Of course in the process she must be told of the supernatural world, big shocker is doesn’t go well at first, but in time her curiosity gets the best of her. I liked this book and was glad to see more “story” going on other than just the romance.

Oh and just a personal note. Many of you may know my sister Bitch, our partner in crime and I like to attend book signings, it is where we have met many of our friends/sisters. In the last few years it has become less personal with some authors and more corporate. Yes I know it is a business and they have every right to make money for the hard work I completely understand. It is just some forget that without their readers they would have nothing. Back to my point. When Kerrelyn did a signing for Vampire Mine two friends of ours attended her signing. When they went up to have their books signed they mentioned how three of us couldn’t be there and asked if she would sign one of the books marks she was giving away for us. Not only did she sign the book marks and post cards, she was sweet enough to personalize them with our names. She even let them video tape her saying hello to us as well. How awesome is that? Now she is someone I would love to meet in person. And she has a fan in me for life.

One Lucky Vampire by Lynsay Sands

BLURB:

Luck be a vampire tonight . . .

When Nicole Phillips agreed to hire a housekeeper, she pictured someone a little frumpy and almost certainly female. Instead, she gets gorgeous, unmistakably male Jake Colson. The man is proving indispensable in the kitchen—and everywhere else. Except Jake might not be a mortal man at all.

. . . and every night

Who wouldn't want to be a tall, dark, powerful vampire? Jake, for one. He's barely had time to adjust to his new state before he's roped into a family favor. Still, secretly playing bodyguard to sweet, sexy Nicole is turning out to be the wildest ride of his life. First he'll put a stop to whoever's targeting her. Then he'll prove that this kind of love, and luck, happens only once in an eternity

REVIEW:

SPOILERS!!!   This is the19th book in the Argeneau series. I have enjoyed this series over all, Lynsay Sands is a good writer. I love her unique explanation of the origins of “vampires” and their need for blood. The only problem I have is the last few books have become predictable. You meet the main two characters with in the first chapter. Then Marguerite, the matriarch of the Argeneau family, whose gift is to know when two people are life mate’s, shows up and somehow arranges for the two to meet. Then of course there is a small conflict between the characters, usually it is one of them coming to terms with the other being a vampire. Then within the story there is a problem/conflict but it is resolved in a short period of time. The End….

What happened to renegade vampires? A central villain/bad guy? I know this is a paranormal romance so the focus is on the characters and their relationship, but there has to be more to a story other than just hot sex then passing out(for those who have read the book you will know what that  means LOL). Don’t get me wrong, I love a hot sex scene as much as the next person, but for me there has to be a story as well, one that will hold my attention and have me wanting more. Have me begging for the next book. I may be in the minority about this, but this is only my opinion on the series.

Saving Alexander by Susan Mac Nicol

What’s my favorite saying? You know it, SPOILER ALERT, like always I will try not to give too much away for those who have yet to read this book.

BLURB:

Punishing himself for a horrific past that is not his fault, bestselling author Alexander Montgomery seeks redemption and love—and perhaps he will find it.

Famous author though he may be, Alexander Montgomery is not someone you take home to meet your mother. Seriously flawed, damaged by a horrific past, he’s trying hard to claw his way back to normality. But how can anyone respect what he truly is? His therapy involves regular sessions at Study in Scarlet, an exclusive S&M club.

Then comes Sage. Tall, with black hair and blue eyes, an up-and-coming actor with impossible charm and boy-next-door good looks, he’s the perfect choice to play the leading man in a TV adaptation of Alex’s latest best-seller. Even more, he is a man you introduce to your family. Which Alex would do—if he weren’t taken by another man who offers the punishments Alex prays will wipe away the past and make him the person he wants to be. Yet, perhaps there is another path to redemption. If only the solution would reach out and touch him.

MY REVIEW:

Let me start by saying I recently read Stripped Bare (see my reviews) by Susan Mac Nicol. I really liked it. I have to say I do believe Susan surpassed it with this book.

Alex has a dark painful past, one he is trying to overcome with therapy and his “sessions” with Eric. I will say this; I detested Eric from the beginning, so I wasn’t to upset about how his story goes in this book, just saying! Alex on the other hand, my heart broke for him, he is the victim of such brutality that most people would not have survived. This is one of the reasons I love him. Part of his journey is him discovering the strength within.

Sage has had issues with relationships in the past causing him to have a hard time trusting. But as his develops feelings for Alex he does his best to be understanding about Alex’s special “needs”.

As they begin their relationship, they have to deal with some other obstacles as well; being outed as a couple by a colleague as well as mysterious accidents.  What makes the accidents even more disturbing is the come straight out of Alex’s novels. Along the way Alex begins to feel again, which helps him become less reliant on his sessions. This does not settle well with Eric, who takes it upon himself to change the rules of their arrangement. Threatening Sage in the process leaving Alex not only back at square one in his recovery but he feels he must protect Sage at the cost of ending their relationship.

Here is where Susan got me, just when I knew who the person behind the accidents were….BAM she throws me a curve!! I was like, wooow, what? I love when an author keeps me on my toes. So the two men find their way back to each other determined to make it works this time. That is when I got the real shocker…the big reveal….the REAL who dunnit….and it was…….Nope not going to tell!! Trust me when I say you want to read the book and go through the journey of these men. When you find out you will be glad I didn’t tell you. I was on the edge of my seat, wide eyed and completely enveloped with this story. A fantastic read great work Susan, really great.

I will add one note. For those who have not read this book, yes it does contain some BDSM scenes. They are well written and are an important part of the storyline. They aren’t too graphic; I have read other books that contain much more details and delve much deeper into this world. I know there are those who aren’t into reading about this life style, to each his own, but I think you will be surprise how well Susan handled this.

Interview with author Jas T. Ward

Hello friends Sgt Tibbs and I would like to introduce you to a new friend of ours author Jas T. Ward. Thanks for stopping by Jas. Why don’t we start by you telling us a little about yourself and what got you started writing?

Jas T. Ward:      Hello. Thanks for having me here. That is such a loaded question to answer but let me try to give the short-version. I started writing due to a very rough and painful childhood. It was my escape and to be perfectly honest, I believe it saved my life. Without that escape, I truly feel I would not be here now. To be able to lose myself in a fantasy while reality was trying to rip me apart at the young age of seven, I don't think I would have survived. It was my reality check when I was homeless. My touchstone as I survived domestic violence.

It's still my saving grace today.  It even helped me move on from the tragic suicide of my soul-mate. Without writing? I don't think I could function or even live.

BOE:          What types of stories do you write? Do you tend to stick to one genre?

Jas T. Ward:          Not really. I do seem to bend to the paranormal and fantasy. But I have several projects in crime/drama/thriller as well as romance. I also have some based of true-life books in the works. I like being diverse. As long as I can toss in some of my signature twists in there, I'm happy.

BOE:         Where do you find your inspiration?

Jas. T. Ward:    Everywhere. I find it in songs, images, everywhere. I've had a creative spark come to me in the shower, while I'm driving. I dream in whole movies with complete stereo sound and Technicolor visual. I once got inspired to write a short-story by the sight of a plain, simple woman crossing the street at the courthouse from my office window. I think it is we that set limits on inspiration, inspiration has none.

BOE:       What do you find is the hardest part of writing?

Jas T. Ward:      Stopping. If I had my way I would write constantly. No sleeping. No eating. No doing the things that keep me from looking like a homeless person (smile). But alas reality requires we do all those things, so I have to force myself to attend to the needs we have as humans-- work, showering, eating and sleeping.

BOE:         I am a book junkie, I have eBooks and conventional paperback. Some of which I have in both forms. Do you have a preference?

Jas T. Ward:        Printed. Don't get me wrong, I have an e-reader and it’s packed. But there is just something about holding a book in your hand. About ear-marking a page when you're forced to and not waiting until you can curl up and find where your dive into that literary world was interrupted. To find a book on your shelf that was there when you needed it and flipping through it to get lost once again. Add to the fact when you touch those pages? You've left something of yourself behind-- a bit of your soul. And when you pass it on? You just shared a part of yourself not only with the story within the pages, but the next reader. It's why I love library books. You wonder what place in life was the last person that read it. Did it pull them out of some place rough? Did it shine a light in their personal darkness? E-books can't do that. They seem.... impersonal.

BOE:       Do you have a favorite book and/or author?

Jas T. Ward:        I'm hoping I say this enough, the literary gods will grant me an audience. :) But my favorite author is Ken Follett and his Pillars of the Earth is by far my favorite book. The man has amazing talent to take dull, dry true history and make truly alive on the pages.

BOE:        How do you feel about author’s who choose to self publish?

Jas T. Ward:       I applaud them. I send accolades and cheers to any and all that take the chance of putting their work out there. In whatever form. It's by far the scariest and bravest thing anyone can do. I do however, feel they should never settle. If self-publishing is what they feel they should do...great.

But if they think it's not good enough for traditional...they need to work harder. They need to make sure however and whatever they put out there...is the best it can be. Don't use self-publishing to put your 'not-that-good' work out there. Be proud of everything you do...work hard...write hard...and never sell yourself short. Or your book. There is no reason why self-published works should be of any less quality, less value or as epically strong as any traditionally published work.

We as authors need to ensure that our best is always shown to the reader, regardless of the venue. So as long as it’s the best it can be...the avenue in which it reaches the reader is not the most important thing.

BOE: Would you like to tell us about your upcoming book?

Jas T. Ward:        I'd love to. Madness, which is the first book in the Shadow-Keepers Series, is a paranormal/romance/horror/thriller. Yeah, all of those. Some are surprised it’s a romance and others are surprised that romance could happen in such twisted horror. I like surprising people. Twists are my thing.

It's the story of Reno Sundown, who started out as a creative role-playing character and nothing more than a voice in a hero's head. The fans took to Reno instantly and its through their encouragement and support, Reno got his own life.

The book is the love-child of that fan support. He is granted his own life and purpose with the simple warning of staying away from the woman both he and the hero fell in love with- Emma Devenmore. A woman that caused him to stop helping the hero (he was the split personality- the dark side of the hero) and almost caused both of them to be ended.

He fails in following that simple directive and finally has the woman he loves. But destiny had other plans for Reno and you are shown that inspite of love, not all happy ending happen as they should. Nor is love and compassion enough to keep one's path with destiny at bay. Especially when there are so many dark secrets that have a sway in it all.

It's release date is December 4th of 2013 to both print and eBook from Dead Bound Publishing. I'm really excited about it. The pre-release reviews have been incredible and very humbling.

BOE: Wow I can’t wait to read this, it sounds exciting. Where can readers find you and your books?

Jas T. Ward:        My first book Bits and Pieces: Tales and Sonnetts (Volume I) can be found on Amazon and Barnes & Noble as well as the publisher's website: www. DeadBoundPublishing.com.

The same goes for Madness, which is also slated to be on the shelves of fine book retailers. As well as in eBook form.

Crimson Reign by JT Cheyanne and VL Moon

What’s my favorite word? SPOILERS, and yes every time I say it I say it in my best River Song voice (shout out to my fellow Whovians!!).  Back to the subject at hand…

Synopsis:

A pulse of light preceded the gift of life breathed into the coldest and darkest of souls. Bathed in the glow of celestial love and swathed in a blanket of black satin wings nestled a king among kings, a vampire born to destroy the decay threatening to eradicate the race he was destined to save.

An angelic heart torn by yearning, suffering and pain throbbed to the rhythm of the life he created; a life prophesied in the scriptures by the Creator’s own hand. A vow of servitude given in blood sealed the fate of a Seraphim's heart and tied it eternally to the creation he craves, protects…loves.

Ancient treaties are lost and reborn, rising from the ashes as the Nephilim ravage the vampire race. The deviant desire that soared in Malachi Denali's blood threatens to bring Rome to its knees when Malachi's world, his soul and his heart are brutally shattered and torn apart.

Will purity born of an angel's love be enough to calm the savage mind of Malachi Denali? Or will Laziel be doomed to a life of purgatory for loving the life he was gifted to create…

This is not a HEA, or even a HFN....Who knows what will happen to seal their fate...only time will tell. Vampires, angels, demons and wolves together with love, betrayal, sadness and yearning make up the ongoing story that is...

The Crimson Nights Saga.

REVIEW:

I, like many others, have loved Lachi and Laz for a very long time. When I found out we were finally going to get to read their story I was thrilled! Then when I got my hands on Crimson Reign and I devoured it. Each word pulling me further and further into this world. From the moment the angel breathed life into Malachi, watching their relationship touched my heart for so many reasons. Several times this book brought me to tears; I actually had to stop and walk away in order to catch my breath.

There is a lot going on in this story, but JT and VL write it so well I never felt overwhelmed. They effortlessly blend the many characters and story lines so that we the reader have no problem keeping up.

Let’s talk about just a few of the character’s for a moment; Darklon LOVE to hate this guy! Roman, I was sure at first I would chalk up right next to Darklon, but I was pleasantly surprised. There is the fallen Arial, tortured soul, whose story I can’t wait to dive into. Tobias, a wolf thrust into the vampire world, and the human Kimberly. She has been used as a pawn by those who seek the King’s downfall. Also in the book are Copi and Vischeral; two policemen in Alaska one of whom as a connection to the King’s past.

But there was one character, one that I was so moved by; they broke my heart. There are a couple of scenes that really had me sobbing. I don’t want to say too much, that way those who haven’t read this book yet (So go read it NOW) won’t have it spoiled, but I was torn about them as well. I love this character, yet at the same time I almost felt as if I were betraying another by doing so. If you read the book you will understand.

Let me finish by saying JT and VL are two of my favorite author’s for a reason. They create such beauty with their words, move me, and have me fall in love with these characters till I feel I will burst waiting for the next book, hint hint Ladies,* Winks*

Blog Tour- Double Full by Kindle Alexander

SYNOPSIS:

Up and coming football hero, Colton Michaels, makes a Hail Mary pass one night in the college locker room that results in the hottest, sexiest five days of his young life. However, interference after the play has him hiding his past and burying his future in the bottom of a bottle. While Colt seems to have it all, looks can be deceiving, especially when you’re trapped so far in a closet that you can’t see your way out. When ten years of living his expected fast-lane lifestyle lands him engaged to his manipulative Russian supermodel girlfriend, he decides it’s time to call a new play.

Jace Montgomery single-handily built the largest all-star cheerleading gym in the world, driven by a need to forget a life-altering encounter with a handsome quarterback a decade ago. His reputation as an excellent coach, hard-nosed business man, and savvy entrepreneur earned him respect in the sometimes catty world of competitive cheerleading. When Jace learns of his ex-lover’s plans to marry, his heart executes a barrel roll and his carefully-placed resolve tumbles down without a mat to absorb the shock. Can his island escape help him to finally let go of the past and move his life forward?

QUOTES:

“I’ve never gotten over you. Ever. Not one day passed that I didn’t think about you. For
me, you’re the love of my life. Wherever you are is exactly where I want to be"

"You were made for me, Jace Montgomery"

“Let me tell you what I am sure of, what I want. I want you to fuck me tonight. I want
you inside me. It’s my first time, but I know I liked your finger in my ass when we made out in
the locker room. How do you feel about that?”

"I just know what it’s like to have to deal with a heart broken by you...” Jace said quietly, looking over at Colt with deep, unguarded pain in his eyes. God, he hated that look"

"Last one in bed has to clean us up afterward,” Jace called out and took off running"

"I love you,” Colt declared against Jace’s lips. He truly meant those three little words.
There had never been any doubt in his mind Jace was the only man for him.
“I love you, too.” Jace made Colt smile. He’d waited so long to hear those words from this man. Too long

Review:   LOTS OF SPOILERS!!!

Let’s just start by saying from the VERY beginning of the book it grabs your attention, and gives you the need for a cold shower!! *fans self* Yes there is smokin’ hot sex in this book, but it isn’t what it is all about.  At start of the story Colton Michaels is college football hero, on his way to the NFL when he decides to finally admit to himself what he truly wants, Jace Montgomery. Jace is a member of the cheerleading squad, but unlike Colt does not hide who he is. After a whirlwind spring break vacation, our guys hit a massive road block, namely Larry Michaels, Colts vicious homophobic father. Who not only beats his own son but threatens the same treatment for Jace as well. In order to protect the man he has fallen in love with, Colt sacrifices his hopes and dreams by severing ties with Jace.

Over the next ten years both men lived separate very different lives. Jace opened his own cheerleading gym, becoming one of the most sought after coaches in the world. With all his success Jace could never fill the void left by Colt.

After being first pick in the NFL draft Colt spent years trying to numb the pain of what had lost by sinking into a life of alcohol. Spending years surrounded by a blackmailing succubus a.k.a. fiancé and his money grubbing leech of a father he finally decides to get the help he desperately needs.

Thanks to fate, and an ESPN interview the men finally make their way back to each other, when the unthinkable happens. Want to know what? Buy the book, ha-ha, sorry I won’t ruin it for you! Let’s just say these two will not let anything come between them again.

We are also introduced to a very interesting character, Mitch Knox. Who I hope to learn more about, Hint Hint Kindle!! Overall another great accomplishment for one of my favorite author’s Kindle Alexander. Who once again had me falling in love with her characters.

Let’s start with the Blurb:

Though two years past, Matthew Langer is still getting over the death of a loved one. He’s steered clear of serious relationships, but when he meets the irascible, dirty mouthed and tempestuous Shane Templar that decision has never been harder. Shane is sexy, warm and funny, and Matthew finds himself trying like hell not to fall for him. Especially when Shane, with his quick wit and hacking skills, is quick to stand up for justice and avenge wrongs. Then Shane strikes at the wrong target, and Matthew realizes just how far he’s already fallen. At the threat of losing for good yet another man who has broken through his armour, Matthew finds his heart stripped bare. He must face the demons of his soul or a future without love.

Have to add this, here is the trailer to the book

   Now on to the review:

I have to say in most books you have to have a “conflict” in order to have an interesting story plot. This book definitely had more than one; it kept you on your toes, just when you thought that this is the “happy ending” you are thrown for a loop. Matthew and Shane are two men who are both strong and stubborn. The moment I fell in love with them I would get so frustrated at the same time. Shane, that naughty man, first off I love a hacker, but there were a couple times I wanted to tie his fingers together LOL. They seem to get him into trouble! And Matthew my heart broke for him over and over again, but he too drove me crazy. He would shut down and close Shane out. So needless to say they belong together!  Over all a great read.

This is the first book I have read by Susan Mac Nicol, and it won’t be the last.

A Little Too Broken by Brad Vance

As always my dears, there be SPOILERS ahead, sorry channeling my inner pirate. LOL

BLURB:

When Jamie walks through the door of the Humane Society, it’s not just an animal who needs rescuing that day. Tom is there to adopt another service dog into the Canine Comrade Corps, but it’s Jamie his heart goes out to. But each man turns away, walks away, from the potential pain, the rejection, the knowledge that it’ll all end in tears…

Jamie knows damn well that the HIV he contracted from an unfaithful lover has put him out of the dating game forever in the small town of Santa Vera. Tom lost his legs in Afghanistan, and got new ones, yeah, but with a side order of PTSD to go, he thought grimly. The real problem is that only now does he realize he’s gay, now that the revelation would be just one too many things to put his family through, after everything else they’ve had to deal with.

So both men grin and bear the loneliness, put their feelings on a shelf, even as Jamie’s volunteer stint at CCC turns into friendship and, despite their resolve, something more…
.............................
Tom saw Jamie’s smile. He’s totally relaxed about this. You’re getting there. This is going to work out, this is going to be a friendship. I need this. To be with normals again, people who aren’t…

Well, the fact was that Jamie wasn’t normal, was he? The fact that he had been through what he’d been through, in Tom’s mind put him on Tom’s side of the world, on the island of broken toys. Someone who could understand, who wasn’t one of them, the ones living a life oblivious to suffering, illness, pain.

It’s too bad, Jamie thought calmly. If only I didn’t have the bug, I could do this, I could…well, at least fantasize realistically about this becoming something. People liked it when you were just a little broken, he knew from experience. It lets them think that you’re not so unattainable, gives them the confidence to make a move. Then, they can fix you, be the one to un-break you, so they get to have it all, get the perfect lover in the end by coming to it through the side door.

Yeah, he smirked. But they don’t want you when you’re just a little too broken, just a little bit beyond where you can be repaired back into perfection, their reward for accepting those lesser flaws for a while. Some things stay broken, and nobody wants that.

Review:

This is a story not of just about two people coming together, but of these two men coming to terms with aspects of their own lives. They consider themselves “broken”, unable to have what they want most; someone to share their lives with.  Tom and Jamie find out that others do not see us the way we see ourselves, they help each other cope and move forward. There were parts of this story that broke my heart, I won’t say more than that I don’t want to give too much away. My favorite part is near the end, and Mr. Vance I believe you know the part, I actually cried. Well done.

Prince of Silk and Thorns by Cherry Dare

As always please remember the following contains SPOILES read at your own risk!

Blurb from book:

Prince Alar is notorious... and tormented.

The prince's decadence is as famous as his extraordinary beauty. Rumor holds that he murdered his own brother to get one step closer to the throne. Some believe him to be the son of a fallen angel. But beneath his icy exterior, the prince burns with secret guilt... and untapped passion.

Farm boy Garin is innocent... and reckless.

Garin is shocked when Prince Alar rides into his village and demands that the young men strip for his inspection... so he can select one as his new slave! To protect his brother, Garin volunteers, leaving his peaceful village-- and his innocence-- behind. But even naked and chained, he is no helpless victim.

At the palace, Garin discovers a new world of decadent sex, dangerous intrigue, and devastating passion. But from the moment the arrogant prince puts a collar around Garin's throat and claims him as his own, the men are bound together in more ways than one.

From sadistic sex games to tender caretaking, from erotic awakenings to a deadly gladiatorial match, their journey together pushes both men to their physical and emotional limits... and beyond.

This is the first book I have read by Cherry Dare, when I started I was a little worried. I have read and enjoyed BDSM, gay erotica, M/M, M/F, erotic, romance many times. The only time I tend to have a problem with any story (including books, movies and TV) are scenes when someone forces themselves on another. That is just a personal issue.  Yes this book contains a few of those scenes, I pushed through them wanting to see what the true story was about.  As I continued reading I really began to enjoy the journey of the Prince and Garin. Not only of their relationship but of how they worked together against those who look to who sought to destroy them and the kingdom.  There are a few twists which I always love in any book. Over all a well written book.

Love Life & Circumstance by VL Moon and JT Cheyanne

Have you ever felt like you "had the pleasure" to read a book? I have. And this time I had the pleasure of reading Love Life & Circumstance by VL Moon and JT Cheyanne. From the very beginning the two main characters, Seth and Elijah, had my heart. I was an emotional mess at least a third of the time while reading this book and I loved it. I have said before I absolutely love when an author gets me emotionally involved with a character and VL and JT did just that.

I was completely enthralled with this story. A tragic accident, lives lost, a tiny life struggling to survive and a love brought together by all this. I'm getting all emotional just thinking about it.

If you haven't read anything by JT Cheyanne or VL Moon you have to. They are such fantastic writers and I love their books. So pick up your copy of Love Life & Circumstance now and if you haven't read their other books check out their website Here for a listing of their previous books.

The Blurb:

Born the son of a preacher man, Elijah Deacon always conformed to his father’s strict religious teachings. He worked hard, devoting his time and energy to the family owned construction firm, leaving little time to focus on the deplorable state of his private life. Small town America was no place to be when all a man craved was the touch of another man. Elijah hid his sexuality and tried in vain to convince himself he could be happy with a woman. Urged on by the dream of having the family he craved, Elijah couldn’t know a drunken one night stand would see him pay the ultimate price.

Leaving the bright lights of Atlanta and placing his own life on hold, paralegal, Seth Jacobs, moved to Alabama hopeful that with a baby on the way, his twin sister Bethany would settle down. His older sister by five minutes, she gave him the confidence he needed while growing to come out and be proud of who he was. It was his turn to return the support. On arrival in Headland, Seth endeavored to make her see the dangers her behavior presented to her and her unborn child. But, to no avail.

When destiny deals a cruel blow, and the life of a newborn baby hangs by a thread, Seth and Elijah are flung together to deal with the tragic circumstances. The grief threatens to consume them, while joy and fear work to unite them. Jealousy, love, lies and bitter truths rise to the surface and threaten to tear them apart. Can the powers of love and life bring them together and heal the loneliness that death leaves behind? Or will circumstance prevail and fuel the embers of love that draw them together?

Blurb:

Maggie Lee is Space Cadet 69. She begged for a different number. But no can do. She's stuck with a 69 on her forehead, until she's vaporised. That pretty much sums up Maggie's life.
Stuck in a boring job counting tins of meatballs.
Stuck on the dullest space station in the universe, Lanzarote.
And stuck with no hope of achieving her dream of flying scout ships.
Enter hot guy Hunter in his blinged-up spaceship. Things start to get unstuck for Maggie real fast.

Maggie needs to outwit evil Lord Zagon who wants to kill her for her cherished precognition helmet, find a rare space rock to save her family from suspended animation and flee from giddy space pirates wanting to pimp out her friends to the nearest aliens. Hunter being a sexy space god isn't exactly helping Maggie's concentration levels either.
Can Maggie pull it off? If she doesn't, her family will be frozen forever and Lord Zagon will rule the universe. Then she'll definitely never get to fly scout ships.

Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones

A couple weeks ago we had the privilege of being apart of Darynda Jones' blog tour for her newest book Fifth Grave Past the Light. At the time of the release I hadn't had the opportunity to get the book so my review had to be postponed. *slaps own hand* Bad Grimlet! *silly grin* Now I have read it and I had to make myself take breaks so it would last longer than my normal 4/5 hours for a book. I wanted to savor it. But now that I have read it I'm going to have to re-read the whole series because waiting for the next book is going to have me on pins and needles.

Once again Darynda has done an outstanding job with Charley and Reyes. I have always loved the chemistry between the two and things heat up in this book. Can the son of Satan get any hotter?? *fans self* Evidently yes because the man can cook!!! (*yells* "Can someone bring me a fan!!") I have really enjoyed following these two characters' journey from the first book. Charley alone has me laughing between her smartass comments, the greetings she using when answering the phone and her coffee addiction. But who can blame her for the java addiction?  (**raises hand** "Hi my name is Kimberly and I'm a Coffee-holic")

Some of my favorite characters where not as front and center as much in this book but that's ok. Swopes has been busy trying to sort things out and who can blame the man? I just always love the banter between him and Charley. Cookie was seen in text messages for part of the book because a girl has to get her CCDW or she might accidentally fire a gun while in a bar. *raises eyebrow at Cookie* I sure hope her and Ubie get together. This kinda "cat and mouse" they are pulling is killing me!!

Because I don't like to give a lot away about the books I read. I mean hello if you are intrigued you have to read them yourself. But this was me after finishing reading this book.

Saw this gif on Goodreads from someone who reviewed the book and yes this was me too!!! *laughs*

One of things that I love the most about Darynda's books is that there is mystery. After reading the first two books I started to learn to take every little thing and find out what it means. Because by the end just about everything has to do with something. Darynda is such a talented writer. I love being put on the end of my seat looking to find out answers. I love laughing at the comedy and the antics of the characters. I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!

If you have not read this incredible series I suggest that you do. It is fantastic! After raving about it to my fellow Sister Bitch she's reading it as well and totally hooked.

To read an excerpt of this book click here. It'll take you to the post from the blog tour and you can read the excerpt. Also don't forget to visit Darynda's Facebook page and like it to keep up with all the comings and goings that are Charley!!

Blog Tour- Stripped Bare by Susan Mac Nicol

BoE:       Hey everyone thanks for coming by today. We are so excited to have Susan Mac Nicol here with us on the release day of her new book Stripped Bare. I for one cannot wait to get my hands on it!

Morning Susan, thank you so much for letting us be a part of your blog tour.

How long have you been writing and what made you decide to publish?

SUSAN:      I've been writing seriously for just over a year now. I started in February last year with a mission to finish an idea for a story I had. It started in my car when I drove two hours to work each day, there and back. I role played with myself (yes, please note the word 'role' in front of the other words? Get your minds out of the gutter,  people)  I would speak the lines, pretend to be the characters and when one day some dude in the car beside me looked at me in a funny way, I realised that maybe I should write this all down instead of acting it out in my car..

So I started writing Bennett and Cassie's story, the characters from my Starlight series, and that was it. I was hooked. I sent it off to a couple of publishers not really thinking anything would happen. Then WHAM Boroughs got in touch and said they wanted the series. I opened the champagne, did a jig around the lounge and went to bed the happiest woman in the universe.

I then went on to write another three novels, a two book paranormal romance and a rather gritty S and M themed romance, (all still waiting at my publisher for their turn in the editing life cycle) and then for good measure I wrote a screen play based on my first book, 'Cassandra by Starlight' as I wanted to submit it for a script writing competition. I want my own TV series one day..

I also wrote two novellas for my publisher, Boroughs, light hearted season themed stories plus an erotic crime thriller (which needs a home -any takes out there for a psychotic bisexual serial killer, a yummy Italian detective and a feisty investigative reporter?) . This thriller, called 'Born Human', was my first foray into male/male sex and man love. Which I think leads into your next question.

BoE:       Yes, up until recently you wrote M/F stories what made you decide to write M/M?

SUSAN:     When I was *ahem* doing the research for my bisexual killer who uses sex as a means of controlling his lovers, I became very aware that man sex was actually bloody *hot*. I make no excuses for the fact it really gets my motor running. So I decided to read a book that sounded like a really good read. The first M/M book I read was 'The Nothingness of Ben' by Brad Boney which was amazing followed closely by the wonderful Kindle Alexander's 'Up in Arms' which just blew me away. I loved this story.  I was once again hooked on something. From that point on I read any M/M I could get my hands on, some good, some great, some indifferent. I discovered I enjoyed it more than reading M/F and thought, "Hell, maybe I should give this a try." So I did some more *clears throat* research (my web browser must be a great source of attraction to the FBI's sex squad) and when I didn't go blind as someone told me I would, I created Shane Templar and Matthew Langer from 'Stripped Bare'.

I've written a second one called 'Waiting for Rain' which is set in Stamford in rural Lincolnshire, where I spent a weekend and fell in love with the beautiful stone town. This is the book where you'll hopefully meet the tough, emotionally scarred Toby Prentiss and the love of his life, dark, sexy pole dancing Rain Engel.

BoE:      As a woman writing M/M what do you find most challenging?

SUSAN:    I suppose sex scenes were a little challenging having no actual experience in this arena. I relied on gay friends to sense check them and give me advice. My friend Geoffrey Wakeling, who's also an author, was very helpful in beta reading my crime thriller and letting me know I was on the right track. And my wonderful mentor, fellow author and leader of my writing circle,  John Trevillian, read 'Stripped Bare' from cover to cover and told me he couldn't fault my sex scenes although he did have a little something to say about how fast cum dries -or was it how fast it travels? I forget. So all that research I did paid off.

My daughter is in drama school and she has a lot of gay friends who were more than happy to give me pointers. I felt a little perverted taking advice from 21 years olds who were very enthusiastic indeed about what I should be writing...and willing to even visually demonstrate (fully clothed of course, I'm not that twisted and weird)

BoE:    Do you have a writing process, i.e. a favourite place to write, music you listen to, time of day?

SUSAN:     I work full day in the lovely city of Cambridge doing legal and regulatory work. So my writing time is 7 pm till midnight, one am every day. Weekends I probably write about 7 hours a day.  I sit in my lounge, near the window, while the family scurry about me, the dog goes crazy, the TV blares, the church bells ring (we're right opposite a huge Norman church) and various other distractions occur. I like the chaos and I switch off easily so I honestly hear much when I'm writing.

BoE:        Where do you find inspiration?

SUSAN:     Every day events, something I hear, something I dream even.  'Waiting for Rain'-  we went to Stamford for a short break, and had tea and scones in a beautiful old hotel renowned in the area. I thought then I want to write about the hotel . So Toby became a hotel manager, and then it was just a case of finding something related to the hotel where I could introduce Rain to Toby. So Rain, carpenter and woodworker, was commissioned by the hotel owner to build a new state of the art pub. And when these two got together, the story just evolved from there.

BoE:          If you could partner up with any author in history who would it be and what kind of story would you write?

SUSAN:     I fell in love with a series of books actually so I can't say it's just one.  I just LOVE Josh Lanyon and his Adrien English mysteries so these would be my first choice.  But I also love A J Rose's books and Kindle Alexander I've already mentioned as being one of my 'must haves'. They are just such wonderfully talented people writing such entertaining stories.  There are too many books to mention here and I'd take up too much space.

BoE:         I know your books are publishing in EBook format. When it come to buying a book for yourself do you prefer EBook or paperback?

SUSAN:    I used to be one of those people who said I wanted a paper book no matter what. Then my sister bought me a Kindle for Christmas and now I'd have to say it's the best present I've ever received. I just love it. It's easy to use, easy to buy (too easy if you ask me! I have nearly 300 on mine, mostly M/M too) and you can take it anyway without having to hire an elephant to carry your suitcase or trunk. I don't think enough people give e-readers a chance and unfortunately some are too set in their way to change.

BoE:    Do you see an advantage to publishing in EBook over paperback?

SUSAN:    *Grins wryly* My mother is seventy eight years old. I have five books digitally published -written with sweat and tears, edited, edited again, with beautiful covers and professional copy editing - and still Mum says to me, 'When are you going to be properly published?' meaning of course, when will your books be in paperback. She doesn't believe I'm really truly published yet until she can see it on her coffee table in all its splendour.

So while e-books are the way of the future with the younger generation coming to the fore, there are regrettably people who don't believe an author is 'published' until the product is tangible. This annoys me a little as it seems like snobbery to me. I spent the same amount of time writing and polishing my books to get them in digital as someone else does to have a print version. Being in print is no indication of quality. I've seen and read some rubbish print books. The writing and editing is what makes a book a quality product. Publishers still take chances on e-books but not as big a risk as they don't have huge stockpiles of printed matter to contend with if the book fails. The cost for an e book may be lower in some instances, it's more easily promoted online if you take the time and overall I imagine publishing costs are less.

BoE:    Thanks again for coming today Susan, we have loved having you. I know I can't wait to get to know Shane and Matthew! Come back anytime.

          BOOK EXCERPT

All tied up with nowhere to go

Shane Templar watched the man standing by the bed. Shane had no idea how he'd gotten himself into this situation, but he had to admit that this wasn’t the first time. He’d thought he was cleverer than he used to be. He went through a mental checklist as he ticked off the items that had led him into the predicament he now faced.

Male √
Gay √
Intelligent √
Street wise √
  Pretty smoking hot √
Experienced Escort √
Pushover  No- fucking- way.

So, with that all established in his head, he wondered how in hell he was the one with his five ten frame tied spread eagled to a bed in the middle of a client’s very luxurious hotel room in the middle of London while said client, David Debussy, a regular, jerked off in front of him.

Shane’s brain felt woolly and he knew he’d been slipped something. He cursed at his lack of observation and awareness. He never made mistakes like this. Never.

Shane had met Debussy, as requested, at the five-star Baglione Hotel in Kensington and escorted the man through an interminably boring dinner for stock brokers. But while the dinner had made him consider slitting his own throat, the man beside him had made it almost bearable. Shane enjoyed being with David. He’d partnered the man close to half a dozen times over the last year, very much as a companion only.

Not once during the previous ‘engagements’, as Shane’s exclusive escort agency, Carrington Knights, called them , had it turned into anything more than a quick kiss goodbye on the lips and a promise of another date soon. Shane had often left his engagements with David with a raging hard on and had to make his way to the exclusive gay club in the middle of the West End. At Essence, Shane could usually find someone to alleviate his situation and give him some relief.

David was in his mid-twenties, a few years younger than Shane. He was charming, with deep russet hair, a physique like a Greek God and a backside that made Shane's fantasies take free reign. He had wealth from a trust fund his mother left him that made Konrad Feldman look like a pauper. He also had a domineering father who tried to rule David with an iron fist.

Debussy was intelligent, attentive, and as sexy as hell.

At the end of this evening, David had suggested Shane join him for a drink in his room. Shane had agreed. He had a very firm policy about sleeping with his clients. Contrary to popular belief, he didn’t fuck them all. He was very choosy about whom he went home with. He had to like the person, feel comfortable with them and they had to make him feel horny. But after the second glass of champagne and a lot of hot and heavy kissing and crotch banging, he remembered nothing more. Until now.

Shane pulled at the cords that bound his wrists and ankles to the posts of a four poster bed. There was no way he was getting out of the bindings anytime soon. His naked body was splayed out on a luxurious Matelasse bed spread. The fierce erection that had sprung up when he and David were making out earlier had flagged.

He groaned, hoping to distract the man sitting on the corner of the bed close to him, frantically stroking his dick and looking as if he was going to let loose at any minute. The man’s eyes stared at him with a look of sheer greed, darting from Shane’s hairy chest to the blonde line of hair that ran down to his groin. Shane thought gloomily that at the moment there wasn’t much to see. He blamed it on whatever drug he’d been given.

“Erm, David? Honestly, you didn’t have to go all this trouble to jack off. I would have done it for you, you know that. Maybe if you took these ties off me, I could finish the job? Hand or mouth, I don’t mind either way. If you want to top, that’s fine with me too. I mean, I’m not even that hard either, so maybe we can work on that. Give you something more to look at.” He grinned through gritted teeth. There was no way Shane was getting the bastard off but it didn’t hurt to let him think that. He was more likely to punch the sly bugger in the nose. He disliked being made a fool of.

David moaned but didn’t stop what he was doing. “God, Shane, you are just perfect any way, you know that? You have got the most incredibly sexy body. Not buff but really toned.” His plummy tones, which earlier had been very seductive to Shane’s ears, were now an irritating high class whine in Shane’s brain. “I’m sorry I had to slip you something and tie you up, but I prefer you that way."

Shane wondered if David had done this before and what the reaction had been from other men. He planned to make an example of the fact that it wasn’t the ‘done thing’ in his book just as soon as David cut him loose.

“I really wanted you tonight, Shane. I liked undressing you while you slept, and then splaying you out like that for me to see.” The man shivered in ecstasy and Shane could see he was close to climaxing, “That’s what gets me off. I mean, I paid for you right, so I should get what I want. The customer’s always right, correct?”

Who the fuck did this guy think he was, treating him like a piece of meat? He might have paid for the evening, but that didn’t give the bastard any right to do this to him.

“I didn’t think you’d mind.”

The whining increased, adding to the slow burn of fury that ebbed and waned through Shane's chest. He gritted his teeth, needing to talk the other man into letting him go, not blasting him with a tirade of salty swear words Shane had learned from his fisherman grandfather. He had rather a rather profane mouth as a result.

“David, you look pretty close to eruption, so why don’t you let me go and I can help you with that? You like the look of my arse? Well, if you let me up, you can have it. It’s all yours.”

David moved closer to Shane, still tugging himself madly. David’s gasps grew more strident and louder as his body began to jerk uncontrollably.  Shane closed his eyes in resignation. It was too late. The hot, wet, acrid smelling ejaculate shot all over his stomach and groin as David directed it over him and shouted out in release.

Shane was bathed in white spurts of semen that shot across his lower belly like silly string, warming his flesh and leaving sticky snail trails. It wasn’t the first time he’d been bathed in the stuff but it was the first time it had been done without his permission or willing participation. He opened his eyes to see David smiling at him.

“God, Shane, that was incredible,” David blabbered, missing Shane’s narrowed eyes and complete lack of humour as he bobbed around on the bed like a kid at Christmas. “Let me get those bonds off you. Hold on and I’ll untie you.”

A distinct sense of relief flooded Shane's body that he wasn’t closeted with a psycho about to carve him up or rape him. He knew he’d been lucky tonight and that made him all the more mad. He didn’t like taking risks like this one.
Shane watched as the other man fiddled with the ankle restraints, and when he'd freed Shane's legs, David moved up over Shane’s body to untie his wrists.  He was oblivious to the stillness of Shane’s body and the tensing of his muscles as he waited to be set free.

As soon as he unties that first one, I am going to fucking deck him right across his pretty face and beat the shit out of him.
